AI for Government 2018

Leveraging AI in Government to Enhance Citizen Satisfaction, Improve Service Delivery and Reduce Costs

Australia is chasing the likes of the US and Asia by increasing the use of digital channels to interact with citizens. This could cut departmental expenditure by up to 12% by 2026. Australia should double its pace of artificial intelligence and robotics automation to reap a $2.2 trillion opportunity by 2030.

The question is, how can Government organisations deploy AI to drive operational efficiency, improve service delivery and build citizen outcomes? The AI for Government 2018 conference has been developed to create a roadmap for Government to unlock the value of AI at 3 main levels:

1. Policy and legislation: i.e. on a large macro level how can the government, ensure that its policy is up to speed with the changes that AI will bring about

2 Operational: How can the public sector leverage AI to improve the speed and efficiency of its internal operations?

3.Customer and citizen engagement: Improving service delivery for greater citizen satisfaction

What’s more is that this agenda will also discuss strategies to over the red tape and obstacles posed by the risk avoidance and potential job loss by focusing on:

  • Leveraging AI to ensure the level of service delivery is aligned with rising citizen expectations
  • Lowering the cost through increased process efficiency with AI
  • Effectively managing risks by eliminating human error
  • Empowering employees to move up the value curve

The private sector is making progress with Artificial Intelligence. It is time for the public sector to step up its game and optimize the opportunities presented by AI.
