9:50 AM Ensuring that You Are Meeting Ethical Responsibilities of Citizen Data in AI Applications with Algorithmic Transparency, Accountability and Data Governance

New Zealand launched a whole-of-government data convergence program in 2011 to obtain a person-centred view rather than servicecentred view. This has enabled the government to evaluate and identify more efficient pathways for service delivery. The integration of public sector citizen data has raised questions around privacy, information security and ethics around algorithms. This session will look at the steps being taken to ensure optimal protection of citizen data without compromising the quality of AI outcomes.

  • Understanding the public sector data convergence program
  • Creating a fit for purpose data governance strategy that protects the citizen and ensures the highest level of ethics in the age of AI
  • Promoting algorithmic transparency and modelling for effective results
  • Having the right expertise in place and building data capability
